Middletown Public Schools’ City Wide K-12 Art Show Celebrates 43 Years

The Middletown Public Schools K-12 Art Show annually highlights student artwork from all of the city’s ten schools. This show is held each year at Wesleyan University’s Center for the Arts at the Zilkha Gallery.

This year, the show will open on Saturday, March 9, 2024 with an opening reception for elementary students and families from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM followed by an opening reception for secondary students and families from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The show will close on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

The show typically draws about 2,000 spectators during its run. The event is free and open to the public. Meet our visual arts teachers, Fine Arts Department Head Steve Matthews, Executive Director of Operations Marco Gaylord, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Alberto Vázquez Matos, and other distinguished guests.

The school district's Art Department has been organizing the exhibit for 43 years. On view will be student art, from kindergartners working in various mediums to advanced placement art students working in sculpture and oil paints. The show provides evidence to the wider community that art education matters, and that our students flourish when creating art.

This event is in partnership with the Middletown Board of Education, Middletown Cultural Council, Wesleyan Center for the Arts & C.A.U.S.E.
